Trouble with VPC Keepalive Link

Trying to setup a VPC between two Nexus 5548s.  They are connected via a SFP-H10GB-CU3M cable, with the ports left in vlan 1.

# Nexus 1

interface Ethernet1/3

  description VPC keepalive

interface Vlan1

  no shutdown

  vrf member vpc_keepalive

  ip address 172.16.1.1/30

# Nexus 2

interface Ethernet1/3

  description VPC keepalive

interface Vlan1

  no shutdown

  vrf member vpc_keepalive

  ip address 172.16.1.2/30

But, the VPC keepalive isn't working:

# show vpc peer-keepalive

vPC keep-alive status             : peer is not reachable through peer-keepalive

--Send status                   : Success

--Last send at                  : 2013.12.13 15:03:31 753 ms

--Sent on interface             :

--Receive status                : Failed

--Last update from peer         : (661074) seconds, (328) msec

vPC Keep-alive parameters

--Destination                   : 172.16.1.2

--Keepalive interval            : 1000 msec

--Keepalive timeout             : 5 seconds

--Keepalive hold timeout        : 3 seconds

--Keepalive vrf                 : vpc_keepalive

--Keepalive udp port            : 3200

--Keepalive tos                 : 192

Re: Trouble with VPC Keepalive Link

Well I think I found the problem:

# show int vl1

Vlan1 is down (suspended), line protocol is down

Hardware is EtherSVI, address is  002a.6a23.003c

  Internet Address is 172.16.1.2/30

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec

Trouble with VPC Keepalive Link

Was able to fix this by removing vlan 1 from the VPC Peer link, rebooting, then re-builting the VPC peer link.
