Trunk port is up but Vlan is not coming up

Hi Experts ,

we configured etherchannel between 2960 swithes..we configured only one vlan i.e 11 on both the swithes and f0/47 is trunk port & native vlan is 11.

F0/47 is connected f0/0 of router which has subinterfaces like f0/0.11 , f0/0.12 etc...

the config look likes ,

switch :

interface Port-channel1

switchport trunk native vlan 11

switchport mode trunk

interface FastEthernet0/45

switchport trunk native vlan 11

switchport mode trunk

channel-group 1 mode on

!

interface FastEthernet0/46

switchport trunk native vlan 11

switchport mode trunk

channel-group 1 mode on

interface Vlan11

ip address 10.10.20.11 255.255.255.0

no ip route-cache

interface FastEthernet0/47

switchport trunk native vlan 11

switchport mode trunk

speed 100

duplex full

!

interface FastEthernet0/48

switchport trunk native vlan 11

switchport mode trunk

speed 100

duplex full

ip default-gateway 10.10.20.254

router config:

interface FastEthernet0/0

no ip address

duplex full

speed 100

!

interface FastEthernet0/0.11

encapsulation dot1Q 11 native

ip address 10.10.20.2 255.255.255.0

no snmp trap link-status

standby 1 ip 10.10.20.254

standby 1 priority 105

standby 1 preempt

standby 1 track Serial0/0/0:0

!

hsrp is configured between routers.

Today we faced a strange problem..Both the swithces are not reachable and vlan 11 on both switches is down where as f0/47 is up.

What caused vlan 11 to go down ? any idea...

later we erased startup config of both the switches to make the devices up.

Thanks,

Satish

I think you have to check the switch VLAN database and the VLAN ID 56 was not showing up. Or you can try also these two commands: shut/no shut commands.

Satish, should you not also have the statement: swithport trunk allowed vlan 11 on each interface? Also, as stated check that vlan 11 exists in the vlan database.
