Trying to get Ghost Cast (Ghost Server) to work over network...

We have an issue with Ghost server getting over vlans (layer 2). This is using Mulicast, Directed Broadcast and unicast. There are no access lists or any other security hurdles between them. It works when it's on the same vlan (obviously).

Also, our network has a lot of layer 3 segments. Can ghost work over routed links? On one, of the L3 segments I put an IP helper address in to no avail.

Hello Dennis,

on all vlans put the ip helper-address x.x.x.x where x.x.x.x is the unicast ip address of the server.

For supporting multicast you need to turn on multicast routing

ip multicast routing

+

ip pim spase-dense-mode on all vlans

we use the first method successfully

Hope to help

Giuseppe
