In the process of adding udld/udld aggressive to IDF and MDF 6500 switches. On the uplinks that go from the IDF to the MDF , I am being told to enable udld aggressive on the IDF Side and to enable udld on the MDF side. Can someone explain what this accomplishes?

Hi,

The two modes of UDLD are aggressive and normal. As far as I know they are work together without problem, but I would recommend to use aggressive mode on both side.

The advance of the aggressive mode is if no message received from the other party the port is put to err disable opposed to normal mode where the port state remain up.

For more information about udld pls refer to:

Hope it helps, rate if does
