UDLD and Loop Guard

Good Day

Just a quick query. Can UDLD and Loop Guard be enabled on the same interface?

Thanks

Yes you can do this and indeed it is recommended by Cisco to use both UDLD and loopguard as UDLD is independent of STP and does not catch all STP failures.

See this link for more details -

Re: UDLD and Loop Guard

Hello Neil,

yes you can and for example we do this in campus network.

To be noted if using any form of Rapid STP 802.1s MST or RPVST UDLD is actually too slow in comparison to rapid STP convergence time.

Enabling both provides the benefit of having multiple methods to detect possible problems.

Hope to help

Re: UDLD and Loop Guard

Hi,

Yes they can (and I have configured it quite often at my customers boxes). For more details please see:
