unable to connect web server to cisco 3560x gigabit switch

Unable to connect web server to cisco 3560x switch through patch panel. I connected the sevrer to cisco 2960 fast ethernet switch  through patch panel then the port on the switch comes up, but when i connect the same cable to 3560x gigabit port - the port doesnt come up. Help me
