Hi all,
I have 3550 switch working as layer 3 .
It has vlan 20 configured and it is running ospf.
Vlan 20 configuration
interface Vlan20
ip address 192.168.20.1 255.255.255.0
ip ospf hello-interval 40
standby ip 192.168.20.3
standby priority 150
standby preempt
standby 1 preempt delay minimum 120
Port fa0/8 is connected to layer 2 switch 2950.
*********************************************************************************************************************************************************
2950 confg
interface Vlan20
ip address 192.168.20.5 255.255.255.0
no ip route-cache
!
ip default-gateway 192.168.20.1
from 2950 switch has fa0/8 connected as trunk to 3550.
Both switches can see each other as neighbors.
Thanks
MAhesh

First, establish layer 2 w/o worring about OSP/HSRP.
On the 2950, you SVI wont be up unless you have one port in that vlan. And....have you created vlan 20 on the 2950? You can create the svi for vlan 20, but if vlan20 isnt in the vlan db, it will not work.
If you do a sh vlan on the 2950, you wont see vlan 20 unless you left out some info in your post.
This should be a good starting point to you.

Hi all,
Issue was on 2950 switch was missing trunk config.
Once config as trunk everything was working good.
Thanks
