unable to Ping switch

Hi Experts

I have a cisco 3560 Switch.

interface 1 & 2 are uplink ports for data and voice vlan respectively

int 3 to 24 are access ports

i have switch ip address on vlan1 which has port 28 in it

How to : ping the ip address of the switch.

Any suggestions

Hi AK,

To ping the ip address of the switch you need to have desktop in same vlan that is vlan 1 and as Reza pointed out SVI for vlan 1 should be configured .Then you can ping the switch ip address and as 3560 is l3 switch if ip routing is enabled then other vlan member can also ping the switch ip address.

Hi Asif,

If I understand you correctly, you are trying to ping the IP address for VLAN 1.  Do you already have svi configured with ip address?  If yes you can just plug your pc to port 28 and give it an ip address in the same range as the switch  You should be able to ping the IP of the switch now.

Is the switch ip is routable in your network, if yes then you can access remotely if not then you need to be onsite to access.
