Unable to see Nexus is a hop when traceroute

Hi,

I have nexus 7010 running ospf. When I traceroute from one of the  far remote sites (6hops away) I cant see the nexus as a hop. Where as  from another site which is 5 hops away I can see it.

Anybody have any idea why i cant see it. Is there anything to be done in COPP.

Thanks & regards

Sachi

I beleieve when you bring up your NX-OS device for the first time, the NX-OS software installs the default copp-system-policy policy to protect the supervisor module from DoS attacks which blocks traceroute. I think you have to modify the CoPP policy to allow traceroute.

see http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/datacenter/sw/4_1/nx-os/security/configuration/guide/sec_cppolicing.html

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. But the problem is the traceroute shows when it is only 3-4 hops. As soon as the no. of hops increases it crosses the nexus without showing it(only shows * * * *). This looks strange to me.

Thanks

Sachi
