Hi,

Try this:

username test password test123

username test privi 15

line vty 0 4

exec-timeout 5 0

login local

transport input telnet ssh

line vty 5 15

exec-timeout 5 0

  login local

transport input telnet ssh

Now, try to login with username test and the password for it.

I do not see anything in the config that is posted that would explain these symptoms. So I have a few questions.

- where are you telnetting from (what is the source address)?

- is the connection from your machine to the router on the same subnet or do you go through some other network devices? Perhaps the output of traceroute from your machine to the router would be helpful?

- which address on the router are you attempting to telnet to?

- is it possible that some security policy in the network or on your machine is denying the telnet?

Dear Richard Burts,

Thxz for your response

1)The source is in different network .(Differnt subnet)

2)I'm trying to telnet the ip  address which is assigned on the physical port (WAN ip)

3)There is no security policy as of now on the machine (Desktop) as i'm able to take telnet of some other routers & switches.

4)Still i'm able to take ssh of the same router and when i'm trying for telnet, not getting the telnet prompt at all.

What could be the reason ??
