Understanding Age of Route

Hi, I want to know the timer (age) in the output of the command "Sho ip route" the section "Last update from 172.23.1.2 on Vlan320, 14:06:42 ago". This show me that the route is present on the network 14 hours ago? , what situacion do that the timer or age change.

Re: Understanding Age of Route

No it means what it says, that the last time this router received a routing update from a neighbor 14 hours ago. That happens for example when the network changes (maybe 14 hours earlier the other router rebooted or a link was added). The exact meaning and working of the timers depend on the routing protocol (OSPF, EIGRP, RIP, etc.)
