Upgrading Cisco Catalyst 4500 series Supervisor question

Hi All.

Does anybody know if a new Cisco Catalyst 4500 series supervisor 7L-E model WS-X45-SUP7L-E is backward compatible with a Cisco Catalyst 4500 series chassis model 4507R?

I've checked on Cisco website for that Supervisor and it shows only new chassis models WS-C4507R+E and R-E, but what about old type of chassis? We need to upgrade that Supervisor as it's out of line, but we don't really want to buy a new chassis as well as it's going to be very pricy.

Thanks for your support.

Regards,

Hi,

the info is on the same link I posted few minutes ago on another thread.

"This engine is supported on E-series, R-E, and R+E chassis." So you need a E type of chassis. 4507R is not good.

from Release Note for Catalyst 4500 Series Switch, Release IOS-XE 3.2.x SG"

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/release/note/OL_24726.html#wp2482302

please rate and close question if helpful.

Riccardo

Based the info from Cisco website at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps4324/prod_models_comparison.html#4500, apparently, sup 7LE is not compatibale with 4500 classic chassis.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/docs/switches/lan/catalyst4500/release/note/OL_5184.html

Catalyst 4507R supports:

Thanks for your answers lads.

Riccardo, your link doesn't work, says Forbidden File or Application.

Guys, do you know to what model of Catalyst 4500 supervisor should I upgrade then? without changing the Catalyst 4507R chassis?

Existing supervisor is out of line and production, so i suppose we won't get a support and service on that Supervisor.

Will Supervisor Engine 6-E, 6L-E,  V-10GE, V, IV,  II-Plus-10GE, II-Plus would support 4507R chassis?

Thanks.
