Upgrading From WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE to SUP720

Hi,

WS-X6K-SUP1A-2GE is running CatOS and i am going to change to SUP720 which will be running IOS . How do i go ahead with this activity ?

Hi Neo,

First make sure of 2 things that your chassis in 6500 and also you have high speed fan tray which is required for sup 720.

Also you have to take your your sup1A first and and then insert the new sup 720 and by default sup 720 comes with CATOS if you have not specifically ordered for NATIVE IOS preloaded then you can check this link to convert from CATOS to Native IOS

Hi Neo,

In addition to Ankur's post I would like to tell you the specific slot requirements for Sup720 on Cat6500 chsssis. Which chassis do you have ?

Here is the table

6503/6504 slot1

6506 Slot5 and Slot6

6509 Slot5 and Slot6

6513 Slot7 and Slot8

Please make sure that you have the Sup720 plugged into one of the slot depending on the chassis, otherwise the Sup will not power up.
