I would like to know is there any free tool available to identify on which switch and on which port particular IP address is connected. Since I couldn't able to gather data from ciscoworks even after continuous ping and using campus manager to collect data.
You can use the IOS to track down the port a user is connected to. You need to start from the router, that's the gateway for the user subnet. Get the user's MAC address from the ARP table and hop into the layer 2 switch connected to the router and check the MAC address table to identify the port the user is connected to. You would have to repeat the process in every switch if the user is connected multiple switches downstream from the router until you get to the switch the user is directly connected to. CDP should be your friend along the way if your network is a Cisco shop.
Here's a simple example of what the process is like. The user I am tracking is 172.30.1.13 and as you can see the user is connected to f0/3 on switch SW1-3550.
R2#show ip arp 172.30.1.13
Protocol Address Age (min) Hardware Addr Type Interface
Internet 172.30.1.13 46 000d.bc3a.b1c0 ARPA Ethernet0/0
R2#show cdp nei
Capability Codes: R - Router, T - Trans Bridge, B - Source Route Bridge
S - Switch, H - Host, I - IGMP, r - Repeater
Device ID Local Intrfce Holdtme Capability Platform Port ID
1. Do a show cdp nei detail and get the IP of the switch.
2. Telnet to the switch IP (got from the previous step)
3. Do a show cam 08-00-09-2e-22-9f 5. It should show you the port the MAC address is learnt from. Either the device is connected directly connected to that port on this switch or it might be learning the MAC from another downstream switch connected to the port. If it's another switch then follow the steps I listed in the previous post.
I did the scan from the 6500 and it is showing on which vlan that particular mac address is. But I know which vlan that particular MAC address is ? as I said I like to know on which switch and on which port that particular IP or MAC address is connected to. Can help me from here. pls
This is actually a pretty cool feature, i didn't even know it existed until I was looking for a solution to advertise a subnet (prefix in BGP talk), only if a certain condition existed. This is exactly what conditional advertisements does

Attached policy provides CLI access to the Cisco 4G router over text messaging. Two files are in the attached .tar file:
2. PDF with instructions on how to load and use the .tcl file.
