using same hsrp group id

I am configuring HSRP on two 6500 MSFC SUP2. There is a limit of 16 HSRP groups on this platform. I am configuring new SVI with HSRP on these switches..I think I can configure one of the existing HSRP group ID that is in use already.

Is there any limitation/ drawback ? I have to configure HSRP as I cannot have a Single Point of Failure.

ANy comments!!!

Re: using same hsrp group id

Unless you are bridging between VLANs then you can re-use the HSRP group numbers:

interface Vlan10

ip address 10.1.1.253 255.255.255.0

standby 1 ip 10.1.1.254

!

interface Vlan20

ip address 10.1.2.253 255.255.255.0

standby 1 ip 10.1.2.254

!

interface Vlan30

ip address 10.1.3.253 255.255.255.0

standby 1 ip 10.1.3.254

!

They will all share the same virtual MAC address, however as the CAM tables are per-Vlan there should be no issues. If you bridge between Vlans then this is where it won't work.
