utilisation (load) on SUP1A and MSFC1

Hi,

how can I check the load of the SUP1A and MSFC1 ? SUP1 is running Cat0S 7.6.10 and MSFC1 IOS 12.1.19

On the Sup1a just use the "show traffic " command and this will give backplane utilization . On the msfc use " show proc cpu sort " and if the code is new enough "show proc cpu history" and this will give you 3 little sets of graphs , one will give a graph of the cpu for the last 72 hours . . This should be fairly low as most traffic is hardware switched and never hits the layer 3 CPU .

You can use the sh proc cpu command, but this result will not be completely accurate as forwarding decisions are made in hardware, not software, in the switch. It will give you a general idea, but the CPU utilization most likely will not increase in proportion to the amount of traffic being passed as the hardware will be making these decisions as well and there is no detailed way to get this information.
