Verify Fiber 10G SFP mod on WS-C2960S-24TD-L

Hi...

For a project I purchased two qty of WS-C2960S-24TD-L switches and two qty of SFP-10G-SR=  modules that will sent to customer site.

I wanted to verify the 10G uplink interface on both switches, so I simply plugin a LC-to-LC fiber cable to both switches on interface TenGigabitEthernet1/0/1.  But the LED link light won't come on.    Does anyone know why?  Is there a license needed?  I even swamp one end of the LC fiber to B-A to simulate crossover cable.    Example: AB - BA

As you can see from show inventory, it listed both parts.

Verify Fiber 10G SFP mod on WS-C2960S-24TD-L

Software's got NOTHING to with it.  The 2960S that you have supports 10Gbps straight up.  There's no special software, there's no special license, there's no special "human sacrifices".

It's either you have a faulty cable, faulty SFP+, or worst yet, a faulty unit.

I mean you can swap out the first two items three times.

Change the multi-mode fibre optic three times, swap the SFP+ three times ...

Make sure that when you swap the end-points around too.

Looks like a Layer 1 issue.  No you don't need a license.

How come in your "sh inventory" the SFP+ isn't showing up?

Can you post the "sh log"?

Have you tried "flipping" the terminating end of the LC cable?  Should be like this:

send < --- > receive

receive < -- > send

Re: Verify Fiber 10G SFP mod on WS-C2960S-24TD-L

It's telling me what the s/n of your SFP+ is and who is the manufacturer.  If this was a fake then this output would not be valid.

RMA the module.  I believe it could be faulty.

Thanks for the output.  Can I also ask if you can provide the output to the command "sh idprom interface Ten 1/0/1"?
