I'm quite a newbie in vlan routing setup.

I have a 3750 which configured to do intervlan routing and it work just fine. It connected down to many L2 switch which have this option of enabling vlan tagging and set the vlan management ID?Do I need to use this option & what is that for since all my vlan segment are routed to each other via the 3750 L3 switch,Appreciate any reply.

Hello Ddick,

to support multiple Vlans:

all switches define the Vlans as L2 broadcast domains

L3 switch provides L3 services for each vlan/subnet using logical SVI interfaces (in vlan x serves Vlan x)

each SVI needs

int vlan X

ip addr x.x.x.x y.y.y.y

no shut

links between L3 switch and L2 switches has to be L2 trunk carrying all needed vlans

Hope to help

Giuseppe
