Re: VLANS in Catalyst 2948G-GE-TX switch

Hi Satish,

2948G-GE-TX is a complete pure layer 2 switch and is not capable of inter vlan routing. So you can use it for layer 2 functionality only.

For any layer 3 functionality you need switch like 3550 and above.

Re: VLANS in Catalyst 2948G-GE-TX switch

Hello,

I think you run an pure "Switch" Image on that machine. I took a look in the Softwarelibrary and found an IOS Image for the 2940:

c2940-i6q4l2-mz.121-22.EA8.bin

Maybe you install this IOS Software on your Switch and then go for the Layer 3 Interface configuration. But pls. install this Software first on a non production Switch and test if it?s working !!!

Re: VLANS in Catalyst 2948G-GE-TX switch

2940 and the 2948 are 2 different animals, a 2940 is a small IOS switch and the 2948 is a 48 port catos box . Both boxes are layer 2 only ....
