Hello Carl,

in the IPT world they use terms from the PSTN:

a trunk is a link between two PBXs or between a PBX and a Central Office switch that is able to carry multiple circuit switched conversations. (typically TDM multiplexing with digital trunks that are the E1 and T1 indeed).

When a trunk link traffic is carried over IP they say they are doing ip trunking but this is not referred to vlan trunking like ISL or 802.1Q.

about QoS and ASA: yes you can

see

Hope to help

Giuseppe
