vPC on Nexus 5000

Hello Everyone,

Hope you guys are doing good

I have a question over here on vPC, can this below scenario (attached) be possible. Nexus switch supports vPC and ASR9K does not.

Can two ports going to two different devices can be in different vPC links?

Logically looks good but i have my doubts in configurations.

thank you.

Prabhu.

My original reply was that what you have in your diagram is just a standard vPC connection ie. the ASR's just use port channeling on their end and the Nexus pair use a vPC.

So there is no reason why that wouldn't work. However the recommendation is not to use a vPC to connect to L3 devices such as routers, firewalls in routed mode. Have a look at this link and read the recommendations, supported and unsupported topologies when connecting a L3 device to a Nexus pair -

Thank you,

Prabhu.
