vspan or rspan

hi guys,

i have an ids and i want to monitor several interfaces in my redundant 6509. would vspan and rspan could do the work?

Hi Friend,

If the interfaces which you want to monitor and ids are on same switch then local SPAN will work for you but if the interfaces which you want to monitor and IDS are on different switches then you have to configure RSPAN.

hi guys,

i have a number of interface to monitor with my ids, problem is i only have one port in my ids and i would like to monitor ports in the traffic coming from the private wan and traffic from the internet on both switches. any idea how this scenario? will vspan/rspan/span will work on this? attached is the simple network diagram.
