VSS and FWSM

Hi guys,

A project I have just started working on has two 6509 running VSS. My question is is it possible to FWSM in these swithes as well or are the two technologies incapabibility at this stage.

Any info or documentation is welcome

You cannot use FWSM on two 6509 running VSS yet.

Probably, FWSM will be supported in SXI release.

You cannot use FWSM in VSS

If you have VSS capable chassis but VSS is not enabled then you can use FWSM.

Hi, We are using WS-SUP32-10GE-3B for our 6509 switch. Wht I understand is it does not support VSS. So I need SUP720 to configure VSS. Can you let me know whether line cards are required along with SUP720.

For VSS you need supervisor with PFC3C -

so you need SUP720-10G.

You can use only WS-X67.. cards.

Hi, Thanks for the reply..I have the below hardware for two of the 6513 switches on which I will be configuring VSS. Can u let me know if any other hardware along with SUP720 needs to be added to configure VSS? Also can it be configured with IOS 12.2(18)SXF?

FYI.. 12.2(33)SXI for the Catalyst 6500 has been posted on cisco.com and this version of software does support FWSM with VSS.
