I'm planning a maintenance window to deploy VSS on a pair of 4506-Es. I'm in the process of building the configuration file since the naming convention changes to "interface-type switch-number/slot/port".
My question is after the VSS pair is formed.....what does the second switch's interface naming look like? Since they are both 4506-Es i'm wondering if the supervisor will still be considered a Slot.
example:
1/1/x Supervisor
1/2/x Linecard
1/3/x Linecard
1/4/x Linecard
1/5/x Linecard
1/6/x Linecard
2/1/x Supervisor
2/2/x Linecard
2/3/x Linecard
3/4/x Linecard
3/5/x Linecard
3/6/x Linecard

Yes, the supervisor port(s) on the second switch will be seen as 2/1/x. They have to be to be distinguishable from the other switch's supervisor port(s).

As Jon also noted, the naming convention will change. So, for example
switch 1, blade 4 and port 28 will look like this:
1/4/28
the same port for the second switch will be
2/4/28
same for Sups
primary sup 1/5/4
back up sup 2/5/4
and so on...
there is no 3/x/x or 4/x/x, because for VSS the max is 2 switches.
