Hello,
If you are using 2960SX please make sure how many Vlans it supports since as per my knowledge it only support 64.
Incase your vtp server 3550 switch is having more than 64 vlans then all the vlan inforamtion will not sent to 2960.
I have faced this problem , to avoid this i have created vtp transparent mode on this switch and have manullay created the necessary vlans
your new switch is 2950/2960? can you share the config of new switch and its neighbour switch.
HTH!

store vlan information and vtp information in nvram
All the information is obtained from the current VTP Server(s). If you turn off a VTP Client switch and turn it back on w/o VTP Server(s) being available, the switch won't have any Vlan information.
