VTP client

Hi,

Is there any method to find how many clients are conncted to VTP server at

VTP server device

Hello Jagdev,

VTP advertisements are sent out as L2 multicasts and the clients don't register themselves to the servers.

As a result of this I think a VTP server is not aware of how many clients are in the vtp domain.

You should make a discovery that can be easier if CDP is enabled:

sh cdp n det

you can find clients directly connected to server by accessing each cDP neighbor and checking they are clients of that domain with sh vtp status

then on each client you redo the above steps

sh cdp n det

access other device

do sh vtp status

VTP DB doesn't store access ports associated to a specific vlan but just the vlans and their attributes.
