I suggest deactivating the VTP Pruning before doing this conversion if you are using it. It is my experience that even though the VTP Pruning should not be affected by this change, it is a very fragile mechanism and has caused numerous network outages in the past so I am actually trying to avoid it. After the conversion, you may reactivate it if needed on the VTP Server.
Otherwise, the conversion of VTP Server switches to the Client mode should be seamless and no intermittent connectivity issues should arise.
