Is it possible to change a switch`s role in a VTP domain from client to server,
There are 2 switches in the vtp domain. One is configured as a server the other one as a client

Hi Friend,
Go ahead and change the vtp mode of client to server and there should not be any issue.

Remember that when you configure VTP
You should have one VTP server as first switch.
You should change the other switch to VTP client mode before connecting to network
Also make sure that you are using same VTP versions i.e. VTP ver 2
thanks

Hi Friend,
You can have multiple switches acting as VTP server in a VTP domain.
When one VTP server fails you can still add/delete or modify Vlans from the other VTP server which will update the rest of the domain.
HTH, rate if it does

At the moment both switches are on the network configured, one as a server, one as a client.
I want to change the client to server so we have some redundancy.
could you let me know your comments
