we have two point to point leased line connections one is Ethernet output second one is serial output & cisco 1941 router it has 2 gig ports 2 serial port i want configure wan failover in this router is it support for this application?
There is not any problem inherent in having different interface types (Ethernet and Serial) for outbound traffic and configuring failover.
Note that there may be some complexity in configuring failover on some interface types. For example when using static routes which point out an Ethernet interface it is possible that the next hop becomes inoperative (there is a problem with the next hop router) but the static route remains active in the local routing table. The solution for this is usually something like IP SLA or Object Tracking.
But there is not a problem about having one serial and one ethernet as outbound interfaces and configuring fail over.
As John says there are solutions which use static routing and solutions which use a dynamic routing protocol. The details of which to use and how to use them will depend on your own particular situation.
