Weird issue, changing subnet mask

Hi,

I had installed a 4 port EHWIC on the router 3925 to be able to connect 2 ASAs in order to setup ASA failover.

Cleared the config on the previous router interface connecting to the ASA and reconfigured it on the vlan interface on the EHWIC.

All good.  ...  But when I tried to change the subnet from a /30 to /29 I am loosing connectivity between the devices.

So now the ASA int has the 10.10.xx.xx/29 ip address and the router int has 10.10.xx.xx+1/30 ip.

I haven't checked and rechecked the ips, mask, speed/duplex settings and still nothing. Had to leave it at /30 on the router int.

Please advise.
