what can stop dhcp working on a network

Hi all, can anyone tell me what things on a lan can stop DHCP from working between client and server?

No spanning tree portfast on client switchports. Missing helper addresses on the layer 3 router . Besides that it will usually come down to misconfiguration on the dhcp server.
