When I run a sh vlan Brief on the 4507 switches I get this feedback:

BELL-SW1-4507R#show vlan brief

What does it mean for the ports that are under the blank VLAN name and status section?

I assume most of these must be in VLAN 16 as that is our user VLAN and I know this switch has more then 4 ports using VLAN 16 as it indicates above.

Thanks,

Hello,

All the ports are part of vlan 16. Do a "show run inter Gi4/8" and it would show you the same.

Show vlan brief command only shows you access ports in a specific vlan.

Using the show vlan id 16 command, would also show you the trunk ports which have vlan 16 being carried over them.

thank

I'm betting that if you do a show run, you'll either find those ports are trunk (switchport mode trunk) or that they are access ports with no vlan. Think of no vlan as the same as assigning them to vlan 0. Vlan 0 doesn't really exist, its more the absence of having a vlan assigned. These ports will behave As if they are all in the same vlan.

hi,

do a  "sh vlan id 16" and it will show you all the ports associated with it. that will give u an idea. possibly all these ports are part of it
