Re: what is the difference between private buffer and public buf

From Cisco (http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps133/products_tech_note09186a00800a7b80.shtml):

"The interface buffer pools are used by the interfaces for input/output (I/O). When there are no more buffers in the interface buffer free list, the router goes to the public buffer pools as a fallback. There is no performance hit for a fallback. "

"The public buffer pools are located in DRAM, and are called system buffers."

"Private particle pools are used by the interfaces . . ."
