Which QOS Guide Should I follow?

Hi,

I'm about to start planning a qos implementation on our network. I've been reading the different guides but I'm not sure which design guide I should follow. I would think the Medianet is the one I should follow as this is the latest?

Enterprise Medianet Quality of Service Design 4.0 or

Version 3.3

November 2005?

We are implementing a new phone system so the only traffic which will be marked is the RTP traffic with DSCP 46 and call signalling with DSCP 24.

If I follow the design guides all traffic apart from phone traffic will carry dscp 0 marking. With this is mind am I OK to follow the design guide best practices which

Thanks

Darren

I would suggest going with the newer Medianet 4.0, but keep in mind it's best read as "something like" rather "must be".  QoS serves your needs not the other way around.

If Joe ever wrote a QoS guide, I would follow that

Funny you should mention that, as I've thought about doing such for a couple of years now.  Just haven't had the time but a comment like yours encourages me to make the time; thanks.
