Can somebody explain me from technical point of view why are 67 series modules not supported by Sup 32 on the 6500 platform? These modules connect to both shared bus and crossbar, so the lack of the crossbar on the Sup 32 doesn't matter, right?
Thx.

Not that I'm aware of.
My understanding is the 67 cards are "fabric" enabled, meant to be used with Sup 720's. HTH.

65 cards are fabric-enabled too, but are supported by Sup 32...

Hi,
67xx cards are only supported with Sup720 because the way they connect to the backplane. They have dual 20Gig connections to the backplane though the SFM 720.
Sup32 doesnot have a SFM to work with them and doesnot provide those connections for 67xx cards to connect to the fabric channel.
HTH,Please rate if it does.

Again, 67xx cards do have both crossbar and bus connectors. Look at Sup2 systems. Such systems may not have SFM installed, but support both classic and fabric-enabled 65xx line cards. SFM is unnecessary for 65xx cards to work, right?
