why we should connect two distribution switches with etherchannel

i was wondering if there is any reason that make us in desiging LAN connect the two distribution switches directly with etherchannel more than having more redundant connection.

The only thing is that it will add the bandwidth.........as ompare to single port....secondly if there is port channel and one link ails the swicth doesnt have to redo STP and thus can use the same channel..its like catch 22.......its good o have port channel i would say

Sorr just to dd onei though the questio was regarding access.........i many organisatin thy use odd an even vlans....whch sagood practice so lft had wil cater odd an right will cater even vlan ......so both swictes has to be connected
