Hi Everyone,

Switch has no warranty.

They bought new switch ASUS GX-D1241 V3 as replacemet for cisco switch.

THey have DMVPN connection to head office.

I am not physically at this site.

Need to confirm will this switch work with cisco router?

My thinking is no but need to confirm with you experienced people here?

Regards

MAhesh

Just checked the specification sheet, and I don't see anything being mentioned about 802.1q.

If you are NOT doing any 802.1q Trunking then this should be fine.

According to Leo, that switch cannot trunk. Since the router interface is configured as a trunk, this switch will NOT work.

will it work now?

My opinion is, no.  This switch doesn't understand multiple VLANs.  Heck, I'm not even sure if this switch understands anything other than VLAN 1.

Hi Leo,

Seems router has trunk with switch as router interface config is

erface FastEthernet0/1.250

description ** Data VLAN  **

encapsulation dot1Q  250

ip address 192.168.250.1  255.255.255.0

ip nat  inside

ip  virtual-reassembly

ip tcp adjust-mss  1300

!

interface  FastEthernet0/1.251

description ** Voice VLAN  **

encapsulation dot1Q  251

ip address 192.168.251.1  255.255.255.0

ip nat  inside

--More--                             ip virtual-reassembly

ip tcp adjust-mss  1300

service-policy output  output-L3-to-L2

will it work now?

Hi Leo,

Thanks again for timely help.

That switch was not working as it was not configurable.

I will config the cisco switch and will advice the client.

Best regards

MAhesh

Thanks Mahesh.
