WoL and VLAN requirements

Hi All,

the sys admin has deployed a newly purchased Sw delivery product; when he wants to deploy a Sw at night, the product sends WoL packets as a broadcast. Since i have a VLAN environment, these WoL packets are not going through from 1 VLAN to another.

I just cant find how to allow such traffic between vlans.

Any tips?

thanks,

Re: WoL and VLAN requirements

Vlans are broadcast domains within a switched environment.

For allowing traffic between vlans you need to have a layer 3 device like a router or a multi layer switch.

If there is no issue of security then you could just add all the devices in one vlan and then communicate.
