i have WS-C3750G-24PS-E. the switch is not supplying POE to the connected device. The devices get power when connected on another switch. i reloaded the switch (using reload command). I want to know will it make a difference if I power cycle the device?? Or reloading and power cycling is same in case of POE

Hi Ruchisha,

Could you please use the internal discussion?

Secondly coming down to your querie:

1- You need to check why the switch not supplying POE?

2- Was this working fine? If yes what changes(hw or sw) been made?

3- Does the data (I mean if you connect laptop) does it work fine?

4- Is the issue with all the ports on the Switch or few ports only?

5- Did you try connecting the ip phone /AP connecting direclty to the switch?

6- Can you get the following outputs:

show version

Show power
Show power inline
show power inline gx/x detail

7- Could you try changing the cable connecting between the ip phone and switch?

Reboot from CLI is more clean than a brutal power cycle.

To answer your question, a reboot should have the same effect as a power cycle .

You can give it a try by reloading it if that doesnt resolve we might hae to RMA the box.

1- You need to check why the switch not supplying POE?

3- Does the data (I mean if you connect laptop) does it work fine? yes, the cable is fine. As the  phone when connected to other switch with same cable, works fine

4- Is the issue with all the ports on the Switch or few ports only? issue with all ports

>>cable is good as it works when connected to the other switch of the same stack

It looks like switch has an issue. Go ahead and RMA the Switch.

Reboot would not resolve this issue.

Inayath thanks for the reply. I would like to know is there a difference or does it make a difference if i reload it or power cycle it. generally, if there is POE issue, i reload it, and poe restores. But i was told that if reload doesn't helps, i should power cycle it. so is there a dfrnc??

Reboot from CLI is more clean than a brutal power cycle.

To answer your question, a reboot should have the same effect as a power cycle .

You can give it a try by reloading it if that doesnt resolve we might hae to RMA the box.
