WS-SUP32-GE-3B and trunking

Hi all,

Sorry for what may be a silly question but I cannot seem to find an answer and I don't remember enough about trunking rules.

Out of the 8 SFP uplink ports on the WS-SUP32-GE-3B module, can I create 4 individual trunks with two members each? I think I can but have not been able confirm ..

TIA,

JB

Do you mean PortChannels?

WS-SUP32-GE-3B and trunking

Hi Ven,

Yes, sorry.

I read through a couple pages of trunking and spanning tree info and found a couple equations to determine the number of logical interfaces and virtual ports.

"trunks on the switch * active VLANs on trunks + number of non-trunking interfaces on the switch"

"sum of all ports used as trunks or part of a port-channel in a trunk * active VLANs on trunks"

Perhaps I need to do a little more research ....

I can't think of anything that would stop you from creating 4 EtherChannels out of your 8 Gig interfaces.

Do you need a configuration example?
