WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V Card

Hello,

Does anyone know if  "WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V" card supports poe without any limitation in all interfaces? I have found the following link but it's not clear if it supports poe in all interfaces without any limitation.

Thank you

Hi,

Yes this supports POE on all ports

WS-X4548-GB-RJ45V:

• 48 ports

• 10/100/1000 (RJ-45)

• Cisco IOS Software Release 12.2(18)EW or later

• IEEE 802.3af and Cisco prestandard PoE, IEEE 802.3x flow control

• Bandwidth is allocated across six 8-port groups, providing 1 Gbps per port group

• Enterprise and commercial: designed to power IP phones, wireless base stations, video cameras, and other IEEE-compliant powered devices

You will need to make sure that 4500 chassis has the correct PSUs to provide POE

Hi,

I also meant to point out to you the throughput limitation of this kind of card

Bandwidth is allocated across six 8-port groups, providing 1 Gbps per port group

This card has 6 ASICS - 1 per group of 8 ports

Each ASIC only has 1Gps back to the backplane so that is 6G in total.

These ports are fine for a say an IP-Phone and a users PC

The are not suitable for highly utilised servers or hevily used uplinks to other switches
