I'm trying to bring up a redundant core server for our enclave with spare parts. Getting error on the a newer 10GE module "power not allowed unknown card type". According to documentation the WS-SUP720 should work.
Q. Which supervisor engine supports the 8-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet module?
A. The 8-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet module works with any Supervisor Engine 720, including WS-Sup720, WS-Sup720-3B, and WS-Sup720-3BXL.
Here's what I got so far:

Your IOS version is likely too old to recognize the 6708. However, if you upgrade to recognize the newer line card, very old line cards may no longer be supported, possibly the 6324.
Cisco's main site would have additional documentation.

Your code is probably too old to support 10 gig which I believe came out after the SXD train on the sup720's. Upgrade to a minimum 12.2.18 SXF5 for card support.
