WS-X6724-SFP= and DFC3 ordering question.

                   Hello guys!

When ordering a WS-X6724-SFP= with DFC3C included and no memory option is selected, the Dynamic Configurator Tool automatically includes the memory option of 512MB (MEM-XCEF720-512M) at no cost.

But, on the other hand, when ordering a WS-X6724-SFP= with DFC3C included and the memory option is intentionally selected (MEM-XCEF720-512M), then you get charged for the memory. So if you "forget" to include the memory in the BoM it is included free but if you select it intentionally in the BoM you have to pay for it?

Can someone explain the logic behind this? Thanks in advanced guys!

in the final valid BoM, the included memory does not appear.

That is correct.  The description does not show the default memory that comes with the card.

here is an example for 48 port SFP

WS-X6748-SFP

Catalyst 6500 48-port GigE Mod:   fabric-enabled (Req. SFPs)

Now, once you add the extra memory, that will appear as a line item in your BOM.

if card comes with 512 and you select the addional 512 than the card will have 1Gig

Hi,

When you select the card itself with no additional memory, you get whatever memory comes with the card by default.

If you want additional memory for your card, than you pick the memory option and there is additional cost associated with that.

For example: below is an additional 1Gig memory and the list price is $9600

MEM-XCEF720-1GBUSD 9,600.00
Catalyst 6500 1GB DDR, xCEF720 (67xx interface, DFC3BXL)

Thanks for the reply!

I understand what you mentioned. But, when adding the "option" of memory, in the final valid BoM, the included memory does not appear. So, how much memory the configuration will have in that case if the option of 512 is selected?

512 or 1 GB? If the 512 memory is included, it should appear in the final BoM, even in the case when the option of memory is selected. Otherwise, it will appear as you have to pay for the same BoM if you select the memory option.
