Can XENPAK on Cat6509-E WS-X6708-10G-3C communicate with X2 optic on Cat4507R WS-X4516-10GE?

Hi

Yes, but use the same Type both -SR or both -LX4.

Andy

That is great, but is there a cisco or other document that verifies the compatibility between X2 and XENPAK transceivers?

Thanks. This was what I was looking for:

Q. Given that the 8-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet module has X2 optics, can I connect a device that supports XENPAK optics?

A. X2 and XENPAK optics differ in form factor only. You can connect an X2 to a XENPAK as long as the optics are of the same transceiver type.

Yes, I am currently doing this in my data center. I have multiple 4948-10G's connected back to my core 6509's. The 6509 uses the 8-port blade.

As someone has already said, they must be the same type (wavelength) on both ends.
