Can I put 7600 and 10720 together in a DPT ring?

We are building a metro network, and we want use DPT as the tech of core level.

I search whole cco about the DPT, in most case, there are 12000/10720.

But I dont want use a 12000 GSR, becoz its so expensive and complex, and we just need a pair of OC-48 port.

I think 7600 is enough to us, we can use it for LAN switching even.

So the quesion is, can I put 7600 and 10720 together? Is 10720 compatible to DPT router other than 12000?

Thank in adv.

Re: Can I put 7600 and 10720 together in a DPT ring?

Hi,

I think the 10720 is a good choice and i think there is a card for the 7600 thats working as 2-port POS or a 1-port DPT at OC48. The Flexwan adapter for the 7600 can only handle the 7200/7500 PAs upto OC3.

Depending on how large your metro is - Why dont you run 10720 at the core on all places and use the module - access ports to the LAN (24 ports 10/100 TX, 24 100 FX or 4 port GE + 8 10/100TX).
