6500 and 7600 support 64000 mac-address by default.

SDM templates can be used to change the allocation of TCAM between L2, L3 and ACL tables to optimize the Tcam for perticular type of scenarios.
But SDM would be specific to a series of devices.

The above 2 links give more detail on how the different templates affect the routing/switching/acl tables.
The command is available on 3700 and 3500 series where they share the same TCAM divided for L2/L3/ACL etc.
Higher end devices like 6500/7600 already have seperate TCAMs for L2/L3/ACL/Netflow etc. So the command and its use is not applicable here. There are enough resources available in these devices (which would explain their high costs).
