OAM Ethernet 802.3ah: Error Symbol meaning

Hi all

I'm working on OAM Ethernet link-monitor Event but I don't understand the meaning of the Error symbol.

I know that these error are layer 1 errors when the coding 64B/66B (10GE interface) is wrong but what is the real matching of one symbol?

It's correct to say that 1 Symbol match 64 or 66bit or 1 Symbol match an other thing?

Thanks and Regard

Riccardo

Hi Riccardo,

The symbol here refers to the 66 Bit and the Symbol error means the interface detects an undefined (invalid) Symbol received.

Hi Karim,

Which block is responsible for OAMPDU generation?

I am planning to have all OAMPDU generated from OAM Client and transmit to OAM Sublayer to pass it further to MAC.

Is this correct implementation?

Thanks!
