Password Recovery

The following commands are configured in a router.

username cisco password cisco123

line vty 0 4

login local

If i forget the username and password is there any way to telnet the router.The router is in remote place.The only thing i can do is telneting. Can we break the password??

You will need console access for breaking the password.

Since the router is in a remote place, your options are limited to doing a remote dialin into the router using a PSTN line modem.

That is if the router aux port is configured for remote dialin.

Hi,

If you have another router in the remote place , there is another option if you know the enable password.

Connect the console port of the pwd router and aux port of the other router with a RJ-45 cable.

Do a telnet x.x.x.x 2001 ---- Now you should be login to the pwd router and if you know the second level , you can login to the router.

x.x.x.x -- router ip of the other router .
