We were making some test with 4 Cat 6500 prior to insert them to the CORE and one of them, suddenly sent this message:

*** System received a Software forced crash ***

signal= 0x17, code= 0x24, context= 0x43bc3de4

PC = 0x40143a20, Cause = 0x1820, Status Reg = 0x34008002

Then it went to rommon>

Any hints?

Hi,

This shows either a corrupted or a missing boot loader image on the Multilayer Switch Feature Card.

There is a link describing you how to recover that,

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/switches/ps700/products_tech_note09186a008015bfa1.shtml#catos_ios

Rate if it does,

Rgs

We followed all the steps of this paper but it did not work.

We removed a GBIC card in order to recover the router. It seems that it was a hardware problem that force a Software crash.

Xavier
