VPLS in 10720

Its strange that Cisco doesn't support VPLS at the edge side. Other vendors are ahead of Cisco in terms of VPLS support at the edge. Even customers are asking the same. They want to have VPLS on edge routers like 10720. We cannot ask the customers to go for 7600 at the edge when they can get a much cheaper product from other vendors (from a major cisco competitor) compared to 7600.

I heard that metro 3750 will support VPLS in Q4 2004. However, this is what I heard from my sources.

I feel the same that Cisco is lagging very much for VPLS support.

to me 10720 (called mini-gsr at the begining) seems to be discontinued soon since 12.2S is not supported on 10720, while other SP platforms like 7200/7500 are continued to be supported in 12.2S.

while 12.0S is continued with new features, but once migration to 12.2S is done, that probably means the end of support for 10720.
